Silenced

so Arizona was entertaining - I had a great time playing with the little cousins - but I brought home this bug that’s attached itself with remarkable ferocity. Monday and Tuesday, it was a runny nose and Wednesday, my voice was all teenage adolescent froggy and by this morning, it was gone. Couldn’t even croak and so I emailed in sick and looked longingly at the phone when people called to find out how I was feeling. Alternated between bed and the back patio, admiring the plants and the blooms and trying to absorb the fresh air through all of my pores, since breathing is still a challenge.

he covets

I wish I could arrange these as a flip book

the whole time, he kept muttering, “Svim, Svim”

I covet

so I was kicking around on housingmaps.com and in addition to the perfect little Garden District apartment in New Orleans, I found this one in Anaheim. Exactly the right size and a good enough location and the right price

with a gas stove and a BATHTUB

and it’s OK that it’s gone to someone else, but I’m glad to know that such places exist.

Domesticity

work is making me … work. Arrive early and leave late. I suppose it’s career building, but it’s taking an awful lot of time. And I’ve been cooking. And taking yoga again and trying to get more than five hours of sleep a night. And my plants are all bloomy and green. I even have basil sprouting and bouquets in the kitchen windowsill.

baby basil sprouting in the chives

My point is that there’s stuff going on all of the time, but unless you’re living it, it’s not all that interesting. Too many more weeks of it and it won’t even be interesting to live, but I’m enjoying the peace and there are trips on the horizon…

meme’d or A Very Special Edition of The Friday Five

If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be?

How to do it:
1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc).
2. Put it on Shuffle.
3. Press Play.
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button.
6. Be honest.

Huh. Sometimes that worked. I’m going to start making ALL of my decisions this way - it’s so much more modern than the Bible and a randomly placed finger …

In the interest of informed bloggership, I did cheat once because David Sedaris reading Baby Einstein 3 came up for “Driving”, but I’ve been meaning to pull his stuff out of shuffle anyway. Plus, bonus points for actually MAKING the soundtrack and listening it it.

second thoughts

I really liked the way that this picture turned out, but in retrospect (and after hearing Ben rave on about how S2 of Twin Peaks is FINALLY out), it looks a little too much like that oft-repeated shot from the bottom of the stairway at the Palmer house, sans the endlessly turning fan. Come to think of it, I think that Joss does an homage to it in The Body …

at any rate, now the picture freaks me out. Thought I’d share.
