target marketing or marketing target

either way, it’s working.

(be warned that in the following post, my retail past is showing)

I was a dedicated Gap shopper all through juinor high and high school, even into the Goth phase. I could always count on them to have affordable basics, in the appropriate colors early on and blacks that matched later. The pants fit, the tshirts washed well, the jeans were great - Gap yay! Then, the walls of sweatshirts in every color and jeans disappeared and in its place were striped scarves and khakis and other assorted scaries (hello - where are my nice solids?)

I graduated to Banana Republic for work clothes and Old Navy for play and kind of forgot about the one in the middle.

Flash forward to last week when Vanity Fair came and I was flipping through the ads when I saw a whole section of Gap ads where I wanted … everything. So I stopped by the store (do you see how I was blithely followed the primrose path?) and now I have two new pairs of work slacks. And a pair of jeans. And a striped shirt (so cute!).

Maybe they’re going to turn it around? or maybe not.
