Mmmmm

The only drawback to Thanksgiving at someone else’s house is the lack of leftovers at your own. Fortunately, I had picked up enough odds and ends at the farmers market last weekend to make a kick-ass stuffing today. Now, if I only had pie …

The Grinch who Stole Shopping

there’s a dress shop on my way home that always has beautiful things in the window, but which I’ve never gone in because the owner always keeps the doors locked. You have to buzz for entrance, which offends me on so many levels - if you’re going to pay the rent in a high traffic shopping area, then let the people come in.

C and I walked past tonight, and thought - let’s try. So we knocked, and she came to the door …

… and turned the sign to Closed and shook her finger. Then she turned it back and opened up; we should have run at that point, but we were so shocked, we let her pull us in … and then had to sit through a lecture on how to properly view the clothes with accompanying hanger etiquette.

We browsed for maybe four minutes, then had to reengage in order to be let out. She called us “the children”, asked if we were local and then informed us that her shop is the neighborhood hangout.

We fled.

Home Safe

I didn’t know that the forecast had rain when I pulled on my suede coat. I just knew that it was cold and the coat was warm (the temperature hasn’t hit 50 since November 16th and suede keeps the wind from going through me).

I felt two drops on the way home, but they were apparently only the early warning system. It’s coming down now, though not too much, and the lights are shining through the window and it’s nice to be inside where it’s warm.

Haul from the farmers market

I braved the chill and the early morning because the farmers were waiting for their customers. I got garlic, two loaves of bread (wheat and raspberry), delicious yogurt, apples and sausages. It was worth it.

three good things

1. I got a free sample of Chanel mascara in the mail

2. I went to Lucrezia Borgia at the Kennedy Center

3. It felt like it might snow, even though it didn’t
